All newly arrived international students must attend F-1 Student Orientation coordinated by the International Student Program. Immigration regulations require students to register their presence in the U.S. within 30 days before the program start date listed on their immigration document (I-20).

F-1 Student Orientstion is designed to provide students with important information about immigration and visa regulations, academics, and ISP services. These services also help international students be acquainted with the educational and cultural atmosphere at LACC and in Los Angeles, and provide an opportunity to meet other new international students.

All newly admitted international students must attend F-1 Student Orientation. Failure to do so may result in cancellation of your admission to LACC.

To maintain your F-1 status in the United States you must:

  • Maintain full-time enrollment (12 units) for the Fall and Spring semesters and progress toward your degree program.
  • Maintain at least 2.0. G.P.A. (Grade Point Average).
  • Maintain a valid passport and I-20 at all times.
  • NEVER work on- or off-campus without a prior authorization.
  • Report any changes in name, address, telephone number within 10 days to International Student Center.
  • DO NOT drop below 12 units without an International Student Advisor’s prior authorization.
  • DO NOT take more than 3 units online or Distance Ed. courses per semester.
  • Obtain permission before requesting a leave of absence or withdrawal from LACC to receive 15-day grace period eligibility.
  • Do not stay in the U.S. beyond the 60-day grace period following your program end date.
