STEM Counselor
Hello wonderful STEM students! My name is TaShume Nweke and I am the STEM Counselor here at Los Angeles City College. Prior to working at LACC, I worked as a counselor at West Los Angeles College and Santa Monica College for nearly 6 years. At both campuses, I worked in the transfer center, helping diverse student groups transfer to CSUs, UCs, private universities, out of state and HBCUs. At West Los Angeles College, I coordinated and led a special project with STEM students, which ignited my passion for working with STEM students. Several of my STEM students have received scholarships to UC campuses and many are now graduated and working in their particular field of choice and/or pursuing graduate studies.
In my spare time, I conduct transfer workshops at non-profit organizations in my community. I enjoy yoga, hiking and travelling to new countries. I am currently learning French for my next adventure to Martinique.
