Writing Circles

Have you been procrastinating getting started on an essay? Are you stuck? Having trouble finding quiet writing time? Join a virtual Writing Circle!

What’s a Writing Circle?

Writing Circles are online group sessions that provide students with time to write, facilitated and inspired by a Writing Support Center peer tutor. Tutors are available to answer questions and provide brief assistance with grammar and writing issues.

How do I make an appointment for a Writing Circle?

Register for an account and log into to check the schedule and make an appointment. Writing Circles are one hour, but they are scheduled back-to-back and you are welcome to join for both hours!

Can I get FYE Credit for a Writing Circle?

FYE Credit is available for each Writing Circle hour. In order to receive credit, you must participate in the initial and concluding free-writes, and you must be working on an essay during the writing circle. You must be able to share your screen so you can show your writing during the session.

Ralph Bunche Scholars

Designated Ralph Bunche Scholar-focused Writing Circles are available for RBS students. Use the “Limit to” drop down menu at the top of the schedule and select “RBS” to find an RBS-designated Writing Circle. If you are a Ralph Bunche Scholar, you are encouraged to join an RBS Writing Circle or you may join any available Writing Circle as your schedule allows.
