Veterans Resource Center

The Veterans Resource Center promotes an attitude of collaboration within the campus and surrounding community to increase awareness and sensitivity to issues concerning veterans. The goal of the program is to create an encouraging environment by acknowledging, honoring, and addressing veterans’ unique needs, while helping them attain their educational goals.

Program Learning Outcomes                                                                                        Through active participation in Veteran services and programs offered through the VRC, students will:

  1. Discover campus and community resources available to veterans.
  2. Demonstrate social responsibility through participation and involvement with the Veterans Club.  
  3. Demonstrate self-advocacy skills. 

Upcoming Events

  • **Attention Students - Re: Educational Counseling during Spring Break 2018---

The General Counseling Office and the Veterans Resource Center will be CLOSED from March 29, 2108 - April 6, 2018 due to Spring Break.  Counselors from these areas will not be available.  Appointments for these areas will resume on Monday, April 9, 2018.  Please check with individual programs for hours and services available during Spring Break. 

  • VA Educational Benefits and Federal Employment Workshop - Wednesday, April 18, 2018, 1:30pm - 2:30pm

Learn more about G.I. Bill benefits including Voc & Rehab (Ch. 31).  We will also provide tips on resume writing for Federal Employment.​

  • Veterans Graduation Ceremony - Wednesday, May 16, 2018, 5pm - 6:30pm

This is a separate ceremony from the LACC Commencement when we will recognize veterans (including active duty, dependents, and spouses) who are graduating, transferring or completing by the end of Summer 2018.  RSVP is required.  Please check back for more details.​


LACC participates in the VA VSOC program. The VSOC program aims to help student veterans and their qualified dependents succeed and thrive through a coordinated delivery of on-campus benefits assistance and counseling leading to completion of their education and preparing them to enter the labor market in viable careers.

Feeling stressed? Need someone to talk to?

U.S.VETS Outside the Wire provides free counseling and mental health services to student veterans and their family members.  Common reasons for seeking therapy include stress, depression, anxiety, PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, difficulty with sleep or concentration, and problems adjusting to civilian life. A licensed psychotherapist from Outside the Wire is available on campus every Tuesday. To set up an appointment please email Helen Yum, LCSW at or call/text (323) 536-1767.
