Art Class

Art

The Art Department of Los Angeles City College offers a solid and extensive foundation in Studio Art, Art History and Design. Our studio arts courses will provide a solid foundation in the various areas of studio art, including ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, and sculpture. Courses in animation, web design, graphic design, and new media prepare our students for careers.

Our program prepares students for upper division study at a four-year university or art school and/or to earn an Associate of Arts degree, or Certificate of Achievement. Secondary objectives include portfolio preparation for students seeking admission to the Arts and Entertainment industry and other two-year vocational training programs. We have a high transfer rate to prominent universities, like UCLA and USC, the Cal State system, and arts colleges around the nation, including Otis College of Art and Design, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, San Francisco Art Institute, Art Center College of Design, and the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts).

We pride ourselves on having an interdisciplinary program with our prize-winning Media Arts area (Photography and Journalism), allowing our visual artists to engage with print and online publications. The Visual & Media Arts Department collaborates closely with the Cinema Department in our Animation offerings.
