Tony Maggio

Tony Maggio (Theatre Academy and Department Chair, Director, Actor) has recently directed The Normal Heart and Twelve Angry Men for the Theatre Academy. He previously directed its production of Waiting for Lefty that was selected to be performed in Mesa, Arizona at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in February 2017. Waiting for Lefty also received three national KCACTF awards. He directed The Glory of Living in 2015, from which a scene was chosen to be performed at the KCACTF in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2016.

As an actor, he was seen in the sold-out, LA Times Critics Choice production of Citizen: An American Lyric at the Fountain Theatre. That was reprised by Center Theatre Group at the Kirk Douglas Theatre in Culver City and at Grand Park in downtown LA. 

Some other venues where Mr. Maggio has acted are: the Mark Taper Forum, Los Angeles Theatre Center, Pasadena Playhouse, Odyssey Theatre, Evidence Room, Plaza de la Raza, Stages, John Anson Ford Theatre, Segerstrom Center, LA Theatre Works,  and the Colony Theatre in LA as well as Playwrights Horizons and Cherry Lane Theatre in New York.

He has received six Drama-Logue Awards, three LA Weekly Awards, a Garland Award, an Ovation Award, three Los Angeles Drama Critics nominations, and an LADCC Award for his various performances.  Tony holds a BA and MA from California State University, Los Angeles.
