Biographical Statement:

Professor Victoria Sabonjohn is a professional freelance oboist and educator in the Los Angeles area. She relocated to California following earning a Masters Degree in Oboe Performance from the New England Conservatory of Music and graduating Summa Cum Laude in Music Education from Stetson University. 

As a professional oboist, Professor Sabonjohn performs actively in the Los Angeles area, playing with several local orchestras and chamber groups. Top performances include the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Long Beach Symphony, and Santa Cecelia Orchestra. Other career highlights include touring with the National Broadway Tours of Wicked, Mary Poppins, and Beauty and the Beast, as well as several local productions. Prof. Sabonjohn is also a sought after soloist with several local choir organizations and churches. 

In addition to performing, Professor Sabonjohn maintains a vibrant teaching studio. Her work with young musicians includes being the woodwind coach and assistant conductor of the VYMA Youth Orchestra and the oboe instructor at Glendale Adventist Academy. She regularly works with oboe students at Burbank USD, Glendale USD, and Las Virgenes USD middle schools and is also the Applied Music Oboe instructor at Pierce College. She enjoys preparing her students for the Certificate of Merit program, and also serves as a woodwind adjudicator. 

Professor Sabonjohn is a proud member of the American Federation of Musicians Local 47 and the Glendale Branch of the Music Teachers Association of California.
