Articulation - n.
The act or the state of being jointed or interrelated.
Articulation is the process by which community college courses are granted credit at CSU / UC campuses and private universities. Articulation is faculty and curriculum driven--specific to the community college, the receiving University, and the major—per transfer course agreements (TCAs). We cannot determine that a course will satisfy transfer requirements based on the title alone, all of which is subject to the University conferring the degree.

The Articulation Office has final review of all transferable courses and maintains LACC's repository of approved courses from other accredited institutions (U.S. and foreign) as well as external exams such as AP, IB and CLEP. Namely, how such courses and exams can be applied for credit to meet our local graduation and transfer requirements to the University. Consistent with applicable LACCD board rules, administrative regulations, California Educational Codes, CSU, UC, and private university transfer policies, the Articulation Office serves as faculty designee and intermediary for students, counselors, discipline faculty, deans, senior leadership, and staff to navigate course review and its application.

The Articulation Office makes no guarantees, either express or implied, with respect to information available over the Internet from other colleges or entities and is not responsible for any inaccuracies or misrepresentation of information related to LACC courses, prerequisites, programs of study, graduation requirements, and transfer to Universities.

Transfer Certification

Effective July 1, 2018 ALL CSU GE Breadth and IGETC certifications must be completed by a counselor or the Articulation Office. Please try to see a counselor first for information and guidelines:

  • All outside transcripts, external exams such as AP scores, etc. needed to fulfill certification must be on file with LACC Admissions.
  • Minimum of 12 units completed at LACC.
  • Once all terms and conditions are met please allow up to 1-2 business days for completion of CSUGE or IGETC certification, partial or full, to be reflected on your official transcript.
  • As a courtesy, the Articulation Office upon request will mail proof of certification to your transfer university free of charge.
