Academic Counseling

Counseling Appointments

Due to the high volume of students who would like to schedule a counseling appointment, we have implemented a priority system for appointment scheduling to best meet student needs. Counseling appointments are not available during peak registration periods.

Please view the list of dates and categories below to determine when is the best time to set your counseling appointment. Appointments are scheduled no more than one week in advance by visiting us in person during regular business hours (SSB 2nd Floor) or by calling 323-953-4000 Ext 2250 (you may call anytime during regular business hours, but Mondays & Fridays are best).

*Students can check appointment availability at any time, but priorty will be given to the groups listed

Appointments available between
Monday, September 9 - Friday, September 20:

PRIORITY GROUP: Financial Aid Extension Appeals, Academic & Progress Probation, Academic Dismissal

Appointments available between
Monday, September 23 - Friday, October 4:

PRIORITY GROUP: Student Education Plans (SEP) for students who have completed 30 or more semester units

Appointments available between
Monday, October 7 - Friday, October 18:

PRIORITY GROUP: Student Education Plans (SEP) for new/continuing students who have completed less than 30 semester units

Appointments available between
Monday October 28 - Friday, November 7:

PRIORITY GROUP: Graduation Petition for fall 2019* (Students completing requirements for AA/AS/AA-T/AS-T degrees by end of December). 

NO Appointments will be scheduled between
Tuesday November 12 - Wednesday December 18*:

*Only Express "drop-in" counseling is available during peak registration periods. Students will be prioritized for services based on the following:

PRIORITY GROUP 1: Graduation Petition for students completing requirements for AA/AS/AA-T/AS-T degrees by end of December 2019*.
*Graduation Petition Deadline extended to November 27.

PRIORITY GROUP 2: Students who do not have a current SEP and need course advisement for winter/spring 2020 enrollment and/or review of transfer requirements for fall 2020 admisson.

Please Note: Wait times may vary due to high demand, and may be as long as 2-2.5 hours.

After you schedule your appointment:
  • Please arrive and check-in at Window #19 or 20 on the 2nd Floor of the Student Services Building (SSB) 5 minutes prior to your appointment. If you are more than 5 minutes late, your appointment will be cancelled and/or re-scheduled
  • Bring unofficial transcripts if you have attended colleges/universities outside LACCD
  • If you are a NO SHOW twice in a semester, you will not be able to book another appointment for the same semester without approval from the Department Chair.

Wednesday & Thursday: 9:00am - 4:30pm
Friday: 9:00am - 2:00pm

Friday: 9:00am-12:00pm
Monday & Wednesday: 9:00am - 12:00pm
Tuesday: 12:00pm - 4:00pm

Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to closing for Express Counseling services


Happy Holidays! The Counseling Office will be closed Thu. December 19 - Wed. January 1 and will re-open Thursday, January 2 at 9:00am. 

To clear a prerequisite, bring an unofficial college transcript to the counseling department during walk-in hours.
