Biographical Statement:
Professor Christine Park is the Department Chair of Music at the Herb Alpert Music Center. Her education comes from The Juilliard School in New York City, Conservatorio di Musica Luigi Cherubini in Florence, Italy, and California State University, Northridge with degrees in Piano Performance, Music Education, Italian Baroque Musicology, and International Piano Pedagogy. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Liverpool, UK.
Professor Park began her career at LACC in 2002. She has been active as the Director of Staff & Organizational Development (2009-2015), Director of the New Faculty Academy (2009-2017), and the Chair of Work Environment Committee (2016-2017). Aside from LACC, Professor Park was elected as the President of MACCC—Music Association of California Community Colleges (2012-2014) and on the Executive Board (2006-2015). She is currently the Chapter President of AFT 1521 (American Federation of Teachers) for LACC.
Professor Park's leadership as the Department Chair includes the achievement of $10.1 million endowment from the Herb Alpert Foundation, direct pathway with California Institute of the Arts, and raising over $1 million for instruments, equipment, software, and additional scholarships for music students.
