France Trip Highlight: Château De Pierrefonds

A look into the history of this beautiful monument is awe-inspiring.

One of my favorite parts of the trip to France has got to be the visit to Pierrefonds. It's a gorgeous castle raised high up on a hill. With gorgeous architecture, beautiful grounds, and a view as far as the eye can see, it feels like you're walking through a fairytale.

First built in the 14th century by Duke Louis of Orléans, this massive estate has gone through attack, destruction, and restoration. In 1617 it was nearly demolished and left in ruins until Napoleon I acquired it and set to bring it back to all of its glory.

Inspiration from the Gothic and Middle Age eras can be seen through the entire fortress.

Spending the day here was magical and breathtaking. Getting to see history first hand was an experience that I'll cherish for the rest of my life.
