News and Events for the week of November 25

Good Monday Morning:

As we go into this short week of the Thanksgiving holiday, I was reminded of the first Thanksgiving celebrating the first harvest of the Pilgrims in the New World. I am celebrating the great work we are doing for our students. Thank you everyone for your contributions. The campus will be closed this Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Food for Thought Pop-up Food Pantry

Our weekly Pop-up Food Pantry, located in front of the Student Union, is distributing food again this week from approximately 11am until 2pm on Monday. We are bringing extra pallets of food today so that our students can take extra food for the holiday.

LA LGBT Center Housing Navigator

On Monday 11/25, any students can meet with an LA LGBT Center housing representative at 12noon in AD 108 to learn about resources and to assist students with housing. They are here to help all students in need of housing.

Evening Concert Series – Chamber & Contemporary Ensembles

On Monday 11/25, the Music Department will host Chamber & Contemporary Ensembles at 7pm in the Herb & Lani Alpert Recital Hall, HAMC 210.

Thanksgiving FoodDash

A special Thanksgiving FoodDash with a grab and go Thanksgiving food box full of turkey, stuffing, Mac & Cheese and pumpkin pie will be held on Tuesday 11/26 at 10am in front of the Student Union. This will be prepared by our very own Dietetics department in partnership with the Associated Student Government, and the Foundation Food for Thought program.

Student Workshop: Putting Your Needs First... Without Feeling Guilty

If you know students in this situation: You're in college, you want to succeed, you need time and a quiet place to study... but everyone wants a piece of you! Your spouse, children, parents, friends, work... ALL the demands that go into a rich, full, yet complicated lifestyle. Please let these students know about this workshop on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 12:30pm. This will help them know how to get a handle on how to get their own needs met and how to feel good about it, guilt free! The event will be held in the Student Union 2nd Floor Conference Room.  It is hosted by the Life Skills Center/Health and Wellness Center. For more information, please contact Joe Exnowski, phone: 323-953-4000 ext 2274; email: exnowsjj@lacitycolege.edu

Student Work Showcase

On Tuesday 11/26, students from Visual Arts, Communications and History will be showing their final projects at 12:45pm in the Student Union building, first floor.

Evening Concert Series – Pop & Jazz

On Tuesday 11/26, the Music Department will host Pop & Jazz at 7pm in the Herb & Lani Alpert Recital Hall, HAMC 210.

Evening Concert Series – Guitar Ensemble

On Wednesday 11/27, the Music Department will host a Guitar Ensemble at 7pm in the Herb & Lani Alpert Recital Hall, HAMC 210.

Have a great Thanksgiving holiday!
