News and Events for the week of March 1

Good Monday Morning,

We are entering the fourth week of Spring Semester. Friday’s enrollment numbers showed us at 95% headcount of Spring 2020. East LA College is the only other college in our District above 90% and they are at 91%. Great job everyone!

As our students, faculty and staff get settled in for the term, if you or your students need any assistance, please email: hotline-faculty@lacitycollege.edu, or hotline-students@lacitycollege.edu, or hotline-staff@lacitycollege.edu. We have staff standing by to assist.

Textbook Advance Program (TAP)

If your students do not have their textbooks, please have them contact the Cub Store website and apply to the Textbook Advance Program (TAP) so they can get their books now and pay for them later: http://www.lacitycollege.edu/Resources/Cubstore-Bookstore/LACC-TAP.

Students who need devices can contact hotline-students@lacitycollege.edu and staff can help them apply to get a device.

Vaccine Update

Vaccines for the “Education” category, which faculty and staff fall under, officially begins today, March 1. Here are the links to the official site for appointments: https://myturn.ca.gov/.

If you have trouble getting an appointment through the official site, try your healthcare provider as well. Remember to be patient and diligent when making your appointment. It may take some time, but you will get an appointment. Take the first appointment you can get no matter when it is or how far away it is.

You can have your appointment during work hours and be paid by submitting an Absence Certification/Request and indicate “Work Related” absence. You will need to send a copy of your “vaccination card” or a similar document in order for the leave to be approved.

Campus Check In

Please make sure that if you come to campus that you check in and out with the sheriff each day. We are tracking the activity on campus, and we need to know who is where each day for a variety of reasons, including safety and ensuring areas are cleaned after people access them.

Student Workshops

Our Life Skills Center is offering student workshops throughout the Spring 2021 semester. Workshops are held online every Tuesday from 12:30 – 1:30pm. Workshops can be accessed via Zoom at 929 3680 5171, for more information or questions please contact Joe Exnowski at 323.953.4000 ext. 224 or exnowsj@lacitycollege.edu. The next workshop on Tuesday, March 2 will focus on “How to Have a Good Relationship With Your Professor.” and include information on ways to have constructive, positive and successful relationships with your instructors.

Women’s History Month at LACC

March is Women’s History Month and we are planning a third annual Women’s History Month Breakfast on March 24th. I will be forwarding more information on this and other events in the next few weeks.

Theatre Academy Presents:

BELIEVE. ACHIEVE. SUCCEED. We have shown that working together we can do anything! Keep up the great work!
