News and Events for the week of January 4

Good Tuesday Morning,

It is a new year! It has been three weeks since I have written to you. I will admit, I did miss sending messages to you. I am glad to be reconnected. I hope you enjoyed the holiday season with loved ones. Jack and I had a quiet holiday season – mostly just home, except Christmas. We enjoyed Christmas with the family for the first time in almost two years. And the adage is so true that as much as things have changed, they have also stayed the same. I look forward to a very different 2022!

Mask Requirements for Winter 2022

As we begin our Winter Intercession today, the Omicron variant continues to spread. We are having all faculty, students, and staff on campus wear a surgical mask. You can wear a cloth mask over the surgical mask, but you are required to wear a surgical mask. We have plenty of surgical masks and Facilities staff will be leaving masks in every area so that everyone can get a new surgical mask each day. We also have plenty of KN95 and N95 masks if you would like one of those masks and we have face shields as well. If you want a KN95 mask, an N95 mask and/or a face shield, please let Facilities know and it will be delivered to you today. We will make the supplies of KN95 masks, N95 masks, and face shields at the Sheriff’s Office after today for you to obtain when needed.

Winter Classes still Available

The Winter Schedule is up on the website and we are still enrolling students now. Our schedule remained pretty much the same. A few classes that were scheduled on campus that did not fill were moved to online.

Spring 2022

We continue registering students for spring classes. Students can visit the Welcome Center in person or via Zoom at for assistance. Please let your students know to register now to ensure they get the classes they want.

Employee Retreats

We had planned a couple of retreats for this month, and we will definitely have retreats because we want the collective wisdom of the college community as we plan for Fall 2022. More details are forthcoming.

Student Assistance is Available

We are starting another term with some modifications, but we are forging ahead to provide the best we can for our students. Remember – if you students need anything, please have them email

Students can also use the Student Resource Request Form to apply to receive a free laptop, textbook vouchers, food assistance, housing referrals, and more!

BELIEVE. ACHIEVE. SUCCEED. I am so happy and proud to have been your president for the last four years. Here’s to a great year five!!

Stay well.
