News and Events for the week of April 12

Good Monday Morning,

Welcome back from Spring Break. I hope that you all were able to take some time off and disconnect last week and that you are ready to finish out the semester.

Campus Update

Last week we moved into the Orange Tier and vaccinations are set to open for everyone ages 16 and up this Thursday, April 15. We expect to be in the Yellow Tier by fall. This means that we will be able to open to a 50% capacity on campus with more open to in-person classes. Our fall schedule will be out at the end of April/early May with more information on classes. We will continue to keep you updated on our return to campus through daily communications.

Keeping You Informed

I am increasing my communication to you each week and throughout the rest of this term. Beginning this week, I will be holding a Town Hall for Staff every Tuesday at 3pm: https://laccd.zoom.us/j/99639476304 and for Students every Thursday at 3pm: https://laccd.zoom.us/j/97707506801. I will continue to send my “This Week @ City” on Mondays; on Wednesdays and Fridays I will send a President’s Message with updated information that is brought up and shared at the Town Halls. I want to make sure you are all kept informed, even if you are not able to attend the Town Hall meetings. We will post recordings of both the Staff and the Student Town Halls. Just as we did when we left campus last spring, we will work together to come back in the best possible manner.

VAMA Lecture Series

This Thursday, April 15 at noon, our Visual & Media Arts Department will host artist Daniela Lieja Quintanar for their VAMA Lecture Series. Quintanar is LACE Chief Curator and Director of Programming. In 2019, she was awarded the Warhol Foundation Curatorial Research Fellowship for the upcoming exhibition Intergalactix: against isolation/contra el aislamiento at LACE, also awarded by the Mike Kelley Foundation. From 2018-2020, she was part of the curatorial team of MexiCali Biennial, where she co-curated three exhibitions in the Mexico-US California region. Attend via zoom at Zoom https://laccd.zoom.us/j/97229184212.

The 2021 LACC Foundation Virtual Gala
