Learning Community.....

The First Year Experience (FYE), a Learning Community at Los Angeles City College gives freshmen a unique opportunity to become more familiar with the necessary academic and social skills to be successful.

Students in the FYE take two-semester sequence of two common courses among their other courses. The FYE cohorts for 2010-2011 will be English, Personal Development, Math and Humanities.

Benefits of learning communities include

  • ·      Meeting a group of friends quickly
  • ·      Having opportunities to establish strong study groups
  • ·      Sharing connected educational experiences
  • ·      Enhancing leadership skills by working collaboratively
  • ·      Feeling empowered through being part of decision-making while achieving your educational and social goals.
