This message is written
notification to the campus community that Los Angeles City College (NOT the
entire Los Angeles Community College District) has canceled Summer Session 2010.
As a result of the state budget crisis and the pending college deficit
(estimated at around $4 million dollars), The Shared Governance Council of Los
Angeles City College voted to cancel the 2010 Summer Session. We are
deeply saddened that we had to make this decision but, with limited to no funds
to operate classes, the college has a fiduciary responsibility to reduce
spending as much as possible.
The only classes being offered
during summer session are those required for year-round accredited programs like
that of dental technology, nursing, community services, non-credit courses and
ACT. To our students who planned to enroll for this session, we encourage
you to seek out courses at other campuses within the district. Thank
