We are very excited to announce the opening of second and third floors of the Martin Luther King Jr. Library during the week of August 18!

“That’s our target week,” Library Director Barbara Vasquez said.  “It’s the final week of summer school, so construction workers will be working this weekend and next to put the finishing touches on the library before the fall semester begins September 2nd.”

The Library will be available for student tours on Preview Day, August 27th and LACC faculty can tour during Flex Day, Friday August 29th.  An official ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned in October.

The beautiful, sunlit facility includes dozens of study carrels with computers and several group study rooms opposite the large windows that align the south walls.

“We want to thank all the faculty, staff and students for their cooperation and assistance during our transition between locations,” Vasquez added.

The library’s former location is now called the Learning Resource Center and home to the Associated Students Organization, the Learning Skills Center, the Instructional Multimedia Center, the Office of Student Life and the Teaching Learning Center.

During the summer weekends, the Martin Luther King Jr. Library is closed, as the construction project is coming to completion.  Library hours are 8:30 am to 7:00 pm Mondays through Thursdays.  During the fall semester, beginning September 2nd, library hours will be Monday through Thursday from 8:00 am to 8:45 pm; Fridays from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm; and Saturdays from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.  The facility will be closed on Sundays.
