(Friday, October 31, 2008) If there's one thing for sure and it's true that dynamite comes in small packages the Los Angeles City College Cross Country runners have proven they belong in that category, small in squad size but huge in their display of hearts. The lady Cubs headed to the long-awaited conference championships Friday.
Coach Sylvia Mosqueda; " we were primed for this event and we ran really well" The Cubs finished an impressive 4th in the conference event and are now headed for the Southern California Championships November 7th in Bakersfield. The Cubs had two girls in the top 11, Mallory Celaya running with the flu was still able to place 8th overall with a time of 19:42, and Veronica Alaniz was 11th with a time of 19:56 and Ariana Sandoval was 34th with a time of 22:26 . Both Arina Khohorkova, and Claudia Calmeras also helped the team to go on to the next round. Congratulations to coach Sylvia Mosqueda and the impressive job she has done in putting together a small but competitive team and Cub fans will surely be watching for next weeks results.
