The English Literacy & Citicenship (ELC) Program and the Workforce Readiness Academy offer free non-credit ESL classes, Vocational ESL classes, Interview skills classes, Certification classes, Citizenship classes, and Civics education.

    • The services and classes are free. However, the USCIS N-400 application fee is $675.00.
    • This free program is available at many offsite locations.

 Students*in the citizenship program learn about current United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) procedures regarding citizenship application submission, testing and interviewing.

 English for citizenship classes develop the basic oral and written language skills of non-English speaking and low English speaking adults while introducing basic concepts in U.S. History and Government, Civics, the 100 Questions, dictation and test-taking strategies.

    • Non-credit ESL levels 0, 1and 2 classes are also available for non - citizenship applicants.
    • Students may remain in these classes for at least three quarters in order to complete the objectives for the class.

Citizenship preparation classes equip students who have basic oral and written English language skills to successfully complete the citizenship process. These classes cover the most recent USCIS regulations and how they impact the applicant. They also help students develop confidence and familiarity with the USCIS process and expectations. The curriculum additionally covers the rights and responsibilities of citizenship, civics, U.S. history and the structure of federal, state and local government.

    • Students may remain in these classes for at least three quarters in order to complete the objectives for the class.

* All students entering this program must be pre-tested before they can register for classes. Students are served on a walk-in, first-come first serve basis. Allow approximately two hours for testing, advising and pre-registering.

*Citizenship students who are receiving temporary assistance to needy families (TANF) funding may be eligible for additional support services.
