Welcome to The Social Science Department Web site at Los Angeles City College. We are an interdisciplinary unit of faculty committed to lower and upper division instruction across the social sciences, with our major strengths in African American, Chicano, Asian American studies, Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, Sociology. Degrees and certificates include Associate Arts Degree in Chicano Studies, Certificate in African American Studies, Associate Arts Degree Modern Political Studies.

We are in a unique juncture in that our in a major metropolitan city ensures that the Social Science Department is uniquely positioned to provide a diverse faculty and to teach varied courses designed to increase students¹ understanding and appreciation of the historical and contemporary diversity of national and global society.
