The Consortium for Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) is an NSF REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) site that offers research and training opportunities for motivated students selected from a consortium of Los Angeles area community colleges. The program offers students paid internships at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA, in the areas of astronomy, astrophysics, planetary science, and space explorations.
Projects involve observations, image processing, data analysis, scientific programming, instrumentation development, or space missions engineering. Most are related to future or ongoing JPL missions.
There is a summer-only option as well as a year-round program option. NSF student stipends are provided. The CURE program offers research experiences to undergraduate students majoring in science, math, or engineering who are enrolled in the following Consortium member institutions:
- Los Angeles City College (LACC)
- East Los Angeles College (ELAC)
- Los Angeles Valley College (LAVC)
- Pasadena City College (PCC)
- Victor Valley College (VCC)
- Moorpark College (MCC)
The program is restricted to US citizens or US permanent residents.
