Recipient of an Excellence in Teaching award by the California Alliance of Art Education, dance artist and educator, Diana Cummins, has been teaching dance and yoga for over 25 years.  She has worked as an artist-in-the-schools for Performing Tree, dance specialist for the California Arts Project, director of dance programs at two Los Angeles area high schools, taught summer dance programs for Crossroads Secondary School in Santa Monica, Djanbazian Dance Academy in La Crescenta, California, and served as president of the California Dance Education Association from 2002 to 2004. 
Her dance training includes the Martha Graham School and Lynn Simonson in New York, Ron Brown, (Alvin Ailey Company), Bill Evans, Margaret Hills, Charles Edmonson (principal dancer, Lewitzky Dance Company), body therapy studies in Laban Movement Analysis, Pilates, and Iyengar yoga, and holds an MA in Dance from UCLA.  She has performed as a solo artist, a member of Garung Physical Theatre Company, and is currently working on creating and performing projects with other local dance artists.  An advocate of movement’s capacity to empower and connect human beings, Diana’s classes at LACC emphasize a dynamic physical collaborative process amongst students of all levels and abilities.
