English/ESL Department Writing Contest
are pleased to announce the
The Eleventh Annual Writing Contest
Deadline for Submissions: Friday, April 17, 2009 at 12:00pm, noon.
Winners should make arrangements for the Awards Ceremony Gala at Barnsdall Cultural Center, May 14, 2009, from 6:30-8:30PM.
Entrants may submit in the following categories: Poetry, Short Story, and ESL Writing (Short Story, Poetry).
Cash prizes are for best Short Story, best Poem, best ESL Short Story and/or Poem.
Winners may have their works published in the Citadel.
Rules for Short Story and Poetry:

Stories should be no longer than 6000 words, no shorter than 500.

There are no restrictions on the style or genre of the fictional work.

Five copies of each submission required.

All submissions must be typed/word processed.

Nowhere on the manuscript should the author’s name appear.

The category of the submission should be clearly indicated on the manuscript; i.e., “Poetry” or “Short Story” or “ESL Writing.”

Include a separate cover page with titles (or first lines if there is no title) of works submitted, writer’s name, address, telephone, Student ID, and email address if available.

Submissions will not be sent in return, but can be picked up after the announcement of contest winners (End of May, 2009).

Limit of five submissions per category per writer.
