Dietetic Service Supervisor Certificate

The Dietetic Service Supervisor Program prepares students for entry-level management in a food service department in health care, community care, or school food service organizations, including entry levels of supervision. The program fulfills the federal and state training regulations for positions in general acute-care hospitals, acute psychiatric hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and intermediate-care facilities. The Dietetic Service Supervisor program is approved by the California State Department of Health Services.

  • Upon successful completion of the program, the student will receive a Dietetic Service Supervisor Certificate and may use the desiganation "Dietetic Service Supervisor" as described in California State Law, Title 22.
  • Minimum grade of "C" required in all courses for the certificate
  • Earning the Dietetic Service Supervisor certificate allows the student to take the Dietary Manager's exam. Upon successful completion of the exam, one has earned the credentials "Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CMD, CFPP)."

LACC Dietetics

Application Procedure:

  • New students are accepted each semester. High School graduation is not required
  • .Apply for Fall semester between May and August and Spring semester between November and January.
  • Upon admission to LACC, be sure to take the math and English placement exams as directed by the class schedule. Then enroll in the recommended English course your first semester.
  • Make an appointment with a counselor in the Counseling Office, 323-953-4000 ext. 2250 and Janice Young, the Dietetic Program Director, 323-953-4000 ext. 2291 to plan your course work.
  • Visit the Financial Aid Office to check eligibility for grants, financial aid, scholarships, etc.
  • Register for classes as outlined. Class size is strictly limited. Early registration insures acceptance in class.
  • Textbooks, uniform, duty shoes, lab coat, student liability insurance and health screenings are required.
