POTTERY MAKING

Students will learn the basics of throwing on a potter's wheel. Simple forms such as cylinders, cups and bowls will be emphasized. Students will begin to learn skills such as centering, pulling and trimming. History and basic glazing techniques will be taught. Classes will explore a variety of hand building techniques including clay slab, pinch pots, coiling, molds and glazing. Create all kinds of forms;  you're limited only by your imagination in hand building. Please wear old clothes and bring an old towel and apron. Material fee of $35 payable in class. PAINTING & WATERCOLORS

Do you like to watercolor or have a passion for painting? Welcome to all who appreciate and enjoy this classic and contemporary art forum. Instructor Wayne Thomas will get you started in basic painting acrylic/oils and watercolor brush strokes techniques. Students will focus on either or both mediums of Watercolor and Painting techniques emphasizing on understanding/experiencing color composition, value and design impact. A demonstration in mixing color, differing paint qualities, application, and use of brushes will be introduced. All are welcome to join this colorful, relaxing and fun class!!! DRAWING FOR EVERYONE

IKEBANA: JAPANESE ART OF FLOWER ARRANGEMENT

Elegance, grace and style are three characteristics of the art of Ikebana. BALLOON WORKSHOP

Let your imagination soar as you learn the techniques for making beautiful balloon bouquets, arches, columns and sculptures. Let Mary Lou teach you about supplies, materials, safety and inexpensive resources in this fun, hands-on course. Also learn a bunch of ways to blow up balloons without having to huff and puff. You'll become a balloonatic! Bring snack or sack lunch. You may also bring a camera to take photographs of your beautiful balloon projects. Make your own beauty products using sweet fragrances and natural ingredients. AROMATHERAPHY IN THE HOME

Aromatherapy uses pure essential oils torelax balance and rejuvenate.  You can enhance your everyday life with the therapeutic benefits of aromatherapy by creating simple and fragrant scents for every room in the house.  This hands-on workshop provides information about the safe and effective use of essential oils as you make your own potpourri, room spray and reed diffuser to take home.  Material fee of $20 payable in class covers all materials needed to complete projects.

CANDLE MAKING

Candles are a beautiful addition to your home decor and make wonderful welcome gifts. This candle making workshop will cover the basic techniques for making both molded and container candles. Each participant will make and take home a colorful chunk candle, a floating candle and a novelty gel candle. Handouts containing instructions, tips and techniques will be provided. Develop your creativity and save money while learning to sew. Open to men and women. No prior sewing experience necessary. SEWING II

Fashion Pattern Adjustment Techniques
Now that you are familiar with the sewing machine operation, learn how to alter the pattern for a custom fit! Don't lose your passion for sewing! Learn pattern adjustment techniques: how to enlarge a pattern for a large bust or reduce it for a small bust; how to shorten or lengthen pants' crotch and how to make other pattern alterations. In class the pattern is corrected, the garment is cut and sewn. Some advanced sewing techniques will be taught such as, buttonholes, invisible zippers, French seams and other decorative seams. FASHION PATTERN MAKING
Do you want to make your own fashion patterns? If so, this class is for you! In class we will develop a "block", a basic pattern with your body measurements. This "block" is used to create a design by using a set of pattern making techniques. This class will cove: how to pivot, how to cut and how to spread the pattern to create other designs. By demonstration in class you will learn how to use the many different rulers and other tools to make patterns. A fabric test will be produced. Class is open to men & women ages 16+. Class will also cover: Fall unlined basic vest or unlined basic jacket. Winter: Basic skirt. Spring: Basic blouse. Summer: Basic shorts or pants. The student will produce a test fit with minimum sewing. Material fee of $8 payable in class.

BASIC SILKSCREEN PRINTING

Create and print your own cool T-shirts, posters, note cards and the like while learning the fine art of Screen Printing. You will participate in every phrase of the process and get plenty of hands-on printing experience. The class will then culminate with each student producing a one-color print of his/her own design. Additionally, an optional materials list, vendors list and plans to build your own low cost printing equipment will be provided so you can continue printing on your own. Class limited to 15 students. An introductory course in metal gravity casting using cuttle bone, French sand, clay, centrifugal & vacuum casting using the lost wax process (no instruction on wax carving). GLASS FUSION - CREATE YOUR
OWN JEWELRY

Learn how to create fused tiles or jewelry from glass. No prior glass experience is necessary. You'll learn how to work with glass, assemble and decorate it using different colors of glass on top of each other. Your pieces will then be melted in a kiln to create magnificent artwork. MAKING GLASS BEADS
Two great reasons to make your own glass beads: First, the simplest bead in bead stores costs a lot of money. Second, it's very easy to create one-of-a-kind designs that are all yours! You'll heat glass to a molten state and fashion it around rods to create beads/buttons for jewelry, clothing and random wire votives, stained glass windows, mosaics and whatever else you can dream up. All tools and materials are supplied for the class to make at least five glass beads, including round, flat, tabular and bi-conal. You'll gain a working knowledge of bead making and the ability to continue making beads of your own at home. Material fee of $20 payable in class.
