The Fall 2009 Schedule of Classes identifies the section numbers
for every Speech
60A, 60B, 60C, 60D, and 61class. You can consult the chart below to see what
block of
time is allotted to each of the sections. Please register for a section that you
will be able
to attend consistently during the semester. Although you are required to attend
only 30
minutes per week, you must attend within the block of time assigned to your
section.

laboratory course for persons who use English as a Second Language that are

and prosody (pitch, loudness, rate and rhythm) during structured speech and
conversational situations.

attend. DESCRIPTION: Accent and/or dialect reduction for native and non-native
students. Corrective speech for students with speech problems. This course may
be taken four times for credit.

persons who use English as a second language. Stresses expanding vocabulary
utilizing the most common English words, their pronunciation and usage, along

usage of idiomatic expression, figurative language, etc. Develops skills in
listening.

Speech 113. DESCRIPTION: Study and practice of the best methods of voice
development, speech sound production, pronunciation, articulation, intonation,

an introduction to phonetics and/or diacritics. Stresses oral performances.

language. May be taken twice for credit. May NOT be taken concurrently with any

including pronunciation, diacritics and/or phonetics, dictionary use, idiomatic

certification requirements in Humanities. Stresses techniques of discovering
published authors meanings and expressing those meanings to an audience
through reading literature aloud. Of special value to those whose occupation
will
involve reading aloud to others.
