FYE Class Schedules

Classes for Throughout Your First Year

Being part of FYE means you have access to specific courses in your first year that will help you succeed in college. The goal is for all FYE students to complete the following courses within their first year at LACC:

  1. Freshman Composition (and possibly a Critical Thinking course depending on educational goal)
  2. Math course (will differ depending on major)
  3. Counseling 40A, B, and C (to help you successfully transition into college)

The English and math courses need to be attempted in the first semster and their counseling courses must be attempted in the summer, fall, and spring semester of their first year. In addition to the courses above, FYE will also guide students in taking the correct courses related to your major.

FYE Classes for Summer

Incoming first-year students are required to take our Summer Bridge program for eligibility for the California and Los Angeles College Promise 2-years tuition-free benefit. Summer Bridge consists of 2 two-week courses: Counseling 40A (College Success Seminar) and Basic Skills 23CE (English and Math bootcamp). Students must register for BOTH courses (Counseling 40A and Basic Skills 23CE).

Students will register for Summer Bridge based on their intended major. If a student is still undecided, please register for the first option

Please visit our office for help with signing up for Summer Bridge!

If you have questions or concerns about your ability to participate in required elements, please let an Outreach & Recruitment representative, your FYE counselor, or Success Coach know as soon as possible.
