Full-Time International Students Application Checklist

An International student is someone applying to Los Angeles City College with an F-1 student visa, issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). International students are not eligible for financial aids granted by the state of California nor the U.S. federal government.

Admission Process and Required Documents: Please review the information below to understand the admission process to Los Angeles City College as a full-time F-1 visa international student. Los Angeles City College is required by U.S. government regulations to collect and review the materials listed below in order to issue the immigration documents necessary to obtain a student visa. All documents submitted for evaluation will become the property of Los Angeles City College and will not be returned to the prospective student.

Step 1: Complete the LACC’s Online International Application (CCC Apply)

Complete the LACC online application for International Students.

NOTE: If you encounter an error message when you check the "No Expiration Date" under the I-94 information section on CCC Apply online application, please uncheck the "No Expiration Date" box and input any future date as an expiration date to move forward with your application submission.

Step 2: Review the Checklists Below and Complete All the Required Documents

See the checklists (A) and (B) below, determine which checklist applies to you, and gather all the necessary documents. ALL OF THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS MUST BE MAILED DIRECTLY TO THE ISP OFFICE in order to be considered for admission as an F-1 student. The ISP office does NOT accept documents emailed or hand-delivered by students or other individuals.

(A) Initial Student Checklist

Students who are applying from abroad as a new F-1 visa student must submit the following documents:

  1. F-1 Student Supplemental Application Form (fillable PDF)
  2. Proof of Funds - Financial statements or bank statements for the last three months, indicating the balance of at least $20,000 U.S. dollars with English translation.
  3. Financial Support/Affidavit of Support Form (For financial sponsors)
  4. $50 USD non-refundable application fee - ​Payable from Student Portal
  5. High school diploma and transcripts or college/university transcripts with English translation.
  6. Proof of English Proficiency*
  7. One passport-sized photograph (1 in x 1 in)
  8. Copies of dependents' documents and I-20's (If applicable)
(B) Transfer Student Checklist

Students who are currently in the United States on an F-1 visa and wish to transfer to Los Angeles City College must submit the following documents:

  1. F-1 Student Supplemental Application Form (fillable PDF)
  2. Proof of Funds - Financial statements or bank statements for the last three months, indicating the balance of at least $20,000 U.S. dollars with English translation.
  3. Financial Support/Affidavit of Support Form (For financial sponsors)
  4. $50 USD non-refundable application fee - ​Payable from Student Portal
  5. High school diploma and transcripts or college/university transcripts with English translation.
  6. Proof of English Proficiency*
  7. One passport-sized photograph (1 in x 1 in)
  8. Copies of dependents' documents and I-20's (If applicable)
  9. I-20 from current school and all of your previous I-20's
  10. I-94 (Arrival record)
  11. SEVIS I-901 Fee Receipt
  12. Passport/Visa stamp
  13. LACC transfer verification form
*Accepted Proof of English Proficiency:
  • TOEFL : IBT = 45 or higher; CBT = 133 or higher; PBT = 450 or higher
  • IELTS : Grade 4.5 or higher
  • iTEP : Grade 3.0 or higher
  • EIKEN/STEP : 2nd grade or higher
  • MELAB : 75 or higher
  • Cambridge ESOL : FCE or higher
  • PTE Academic : 45 or higher
  • Adams College of English (ACE): Completion of CEFR Level or higher
  • California Language School (CLS): Completion of Advanced ESL Level or higher
  • Language Systems International: Completion of Level 6 or higher
