Extended Opportunity Program & Services (EOPS/CARE/CAFYES)

Application Process

1. Complete a Los Angeles City College Admissions Application

The LACC admission application can be completed online: APPLY & REGISTER. If you have difficulty completing the application, come to the Welcome Center in the Student Services Building, First Floor for assistance from our friendly, trained staff.

2. Take the Assessment Test

Visit the Assessment office located on the first floor of the Student Services Building to schedule an appointment or to confirm testing hours. On your exam day, please be sure to bring a valid LACC picture ID and pen/pencil for the exam.

3. Apply for the Board of Governors Waiver (BOGW)

Students who are unable to pay the enrollment fee should complete the Board of Governors' Enrollment Fee Waiver application and submit it to the college. Students who complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be given an automatic fee waiver based upon the information reported on the application. FAFSA is a major component of your income eligibility process. The FAFSA Application can be completed online. If you have difficulty completing the process, come by the Financial Aid Office on the first floor of the Student Services Buidling for assistance.

4. Submit an EOPS Application

Complete the EOPS application in person at the EOPS office located on the third floor of the Student Services Building. Please read our Eligibility page before you visit the office to apply.

Submission of official or unofficial transcripts documenting any college coursework taken outside the Los Angeles Community College District is required. Failure to submit transcripts WILL DELAY the application processing and in some cases disqualify admission to the program.

Step 1
Application Criteria:

A completed application must meet all FOUR (4) of the following requirements:

  1. Proof of enrollment (at LACC) in at least 12 units or enrolled in at least 6 if verified by OSS.
  2. Proof of current BOGW (Fee waiver) A or B status. BOGW C does not qualify.
  3. If applicable, legible transcripts from ALL college(s) enrolled or attended outside of the Los Angeles Community College District* regardless of the coursework completed, past degree objective, or grades received. PLEASE NOTE: EOPS will verify previous enrollment and/or attendance of all schools. Failure to submit transcripts will delay the application processing and in some cases can cause disqualification for admission to the program.
  4. Current remedial English and/or Math assessment test scores or proof (official/unofficial transcripts) of the equivalent courses taken outside the Los Angeles Community College District*.

All applicants must provide a valid e-mail address for processing.

Step 2
Application Process:

Application processing usually takes 5 business days. During the beginning of each term, processing can take up to 7 business days, so please plan accordingly.

Incomplete Applications:
  • Applications that are missing the required documents (transcripts, test scores, OSS verification, proof of BOGW, etc.) are considered incomplete. The 5 business day processing DOES NOT apply to incomplete applications.
  • It is the responsibility of the student to check and submit the documents that are needed to complete the application.
Complete and Approved Applications:
  • If your application is approved, you need to attend a mandatory EOPS orientation.
  • The orientation will cover the your responsibilities in order to remain eligible for services.
  • After orientation, allow two (2) business days to be eligible for an active EOPS book voucher.
