If a Class Is Full
If the class you want is full, these are your options:
- Choose a different course or section.
- Show up to the first day of class to ask the instructor for permission to add; often there will be additional seats available.
- Try to keep adding the course. If someone drops, space may become available in the class.
- If the class is online, send an email to the instructor directly to request permission to add.
- Register into a class at another school in our District. Your application at City College allows you to enroll anywhere in the LA Community College District. Please view all district course offerings.
Prerequisite Clearance
A prerequisite is a course you are required to pass with a grade of C or better before you will be allowed to enroll in the next level. You may clear prerequisites through the English and Math Assessment exam or by showing proof of prerequisites completed at other colleges. Prerequisites completed at another college must be approved by the Counseling Office. An official or unofficial transcript is required for this purpose. Please see the Schedule of Classes for a listing of prerequisites.
Financial Aid
If you need assistance paying your tuition or the other costs associated with attending college, the Financial Aid Office can help you access resources such as fee waivers, grants, scholarships, and school loans.
Pay Fees
All mandatory fees are due in full at the time of registration and must be paid no later than 20 days after a class is added. This due date is posted in your student portal for easy reference.
Your enrollment will be cancelled for some or all of your course(s) unless payment is made in full by the due date.
Fees can be paid online with a credit or debit card. Checks and money orders should be made to LA City College and may be delivered in person to the Business Office located in the Administration Building.
If you were awarded a fee waiver or other financial aid, make sure to verify your fees have been paid by logging on to the Student Information System and selecting “View & Pay Fees.”
Student ID Card:
Make sure to bring your registration receipt issued by the Business Office to the Welcome Center in the Student Services Building to get a student picture ID card. This card is necessary for access to all student services.
