International Students Checklist

An International student is someone applying to Los Angeles City College with an F-1 student visa, issued by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). International students are not eligible for financial aids granted by the state of California nor the U.S. federal government. 

This checklist will help you with gathering the required documents for admissions to LACC as an F-1 visa international student. All the items must be submitted by the deadline in order to be considered for admission as an international student.

Step 1
Step 1: Complete the LACC’s Online International Application

Complete the FREE LACC online application for International Students.

IMPORTANT: The CCC Apply application above asks questions about your visa type. If you already have an F-1 Visa, please enter the information as stated on your visa. If you do not have an F-1 visa yet but are going to apply for F-1 visa, choose “F-1 Visa” under current visa type and enter 08/01/2017 as the visa issue date and check the “no expiration date” box.

Step 3: Obtain and complete all of the required documents

Review the Checklists Below, complete all the required documents, and mail the materials to the International Student Program Office.

International Student Application Checklists

See the checklists (A) and (B) below, see which checklist applies to you, and gather all the documents required for admission to LACC as an F-1 visa international student. ALL of the following items must be submitted along with your CCC Apply and Supplemental International Online Applications in order to be considered for admission.

(A) Students who are applying from abroad as a new F-1 visa student must submit the following documents:
  1. Proof of Funds - Financial Statement or Bank Statement obtained within the last 3 months.
  2. FInancial Support/Affidavit of Support Form
  3. U.S. dollars (USD) $50 Application Fee (Internatiohnal Money Order or Bank Check)
  4. Official High School Diploma and High School Transcripts or college/university transcripts with official English translation
  5. English Proficiency Exam Score
  6. One passport-sized photograph (1 in x 1 in)
(B) Students who are currently in the United States on an F-1 visa and wish to transfer to Los Angeles City College must submit the following documents:
  1. Proof of Funds - Financial Statement or Bank Statement obtained within the last 3 months.
  2. Financial Support/Affidavit of Support Form
  3. U.S. dollars (USD) $50 Application Fee (Internatiohnal Money Order or Bank Check)
  4. Official High School Diploma and High School Transcripts or college/university transcripts with official English translation
  5. English Proficiency Exam Score
  6. I-20 from current school and all of your previous I-20's
  7. Passport/Visa stamp
  8. I-94 (Arrival Record)
  9. SEVIS I-901 Fee Receipt
  10. If you have dependants, a copy of their documents and I-20's
  11. LACC tranfer verification form
  12. One passport-sized photograph (1 in x 1 in)

 

Accepted English Proficiency Exams and Scores:
  • TOEFL : IBT = 45 or higher; CBT = 133 or higher
  • IELTS : Grade 4.5 or higher
  • iTEP : Grade 3.0 or higher
  • EIKEN/STEP : 2nd grade or higher
  • MELAB : 75 or higher
  • Cambridge ESOL : FCE or higher
  • PTE Academic : 45 or higher
