Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with the enrollment procedure?

You should come to campus and go to the Student Assistance Center located in the Administration Building, room 104. Here you will find all the information about enrolling at LACC and getting registered for classes. Helpful staff can answer your questions and guide you through the paperwork. Assistance is available in several languages. You can also initiate the admission and enrollment process online at this site's Apply/Register page.

Once I am enrolled at the college, how do I sign up for classes?

Upon enrollment, you will be given a scheduled time to call the telephone enrollment system to request classes. Before that time, obtain a class schedule for the next semester or intersession, and select the classes you wish to take. You should meet with a counselor or faculty member to decide on a study plan to suit your interests. When your scheduled time arrives, make the call as directed in the schedule and select your classes using the class "section number" which is given in the schedule. At the start of the semester, if you wish to add more classes or make adjustments, you can do this via the telephone enrollment system, or online (read the Apply/Register page) for the first week. After that, to add a class, you need to find the instructor of the class you wish to add to request an Add Card.

If I need help, where do I go?

That depends on the type of help you need. If you have enrollment questions, try the Student Assistance Center, the college catalog, or the counselors, in that order. For questions about classes, the best thing is to go to the instructor.

What transfer opportunities are there for LACC students in these majors?

The Math & Computer Science Department is currently working on an articulation agreement with California State University Los Angeles and their Computer Science, Technology and Engineering Department to facilitate transfer to that college for LACC students with minimum difficulty. Many of our course units will be acceptable directly into their programs.

What facilities are available at LACC for study in Computer Technology and Electronics?

We are continually updating our facilities and equipment. We have installed all new computers in our primary computer laboratories, FH-B06 and B-09. LACC has full internet access and Wi-Fi at many locations on the campus. Many classes require use of the network and internet for research and activities.
