News and Events for the week of August 30

Good Monday Morning,

Fall 2021

The beginning of the fall semester is here. We have planned for and anticipated this day for almost six months. In the event that we have our usual onslaught of students on campus for Welcome Week, we have moved most of the Welcome Center activities to the Student Union Cafeteria. Please send any students who need help to the Welcome Center, virtually or in person, and they will be triaged and provided the assistance they need.

Our enrollment for fall is at 92% of Fall 2019 and that is remarkable! We remain at the top of the District in enrollment. Counselors and staff were here on Saturday to help students with ed plans, select classes, registration, and engage with services. This week will be busy, too, and we will be open again this coming Saturday and the following Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Our offices will be open until 7pm Monday through Thursday and Friday until 4:30pm.

City Cares Network Open

Our new “City Cares Network” is located on the second floor of the Student Union and is there to connect students with services and support, such as, textbooks, food, transportation, devices, Wi-Fi hot spots, mental health, tutoring, housing referrals, and emergency funds. It includes all services that a student would need to be successful at LACC. Please refer students to complete the application and we will take it from there.

Covid Updates

Intercoms have been installed in windows of the Student Services building. Air purifiers have been installed in large rooms. We have smaller air purifiers arriving soon for smaller areas. Students and employees need to check in daily on the LACC SAFE app. Please remind students who are on campus to check in on the app.

Town Hall Tomorrow

I will be having a Town Hall tomorrow, Tuesday, August 31 at 1:00pm for faculty and staff, and at 2:00pm for students. I will be providing updates on the pandemic, the recovery, and what the year ahead looks like for us.

Student Assistance

If your students need any assistance, send them to the Welcome Center or have them email us on our hotline for students: If faculty need help, here is the faculty hotline email address: If staff need assistance, here is the staff hotline:

BELIEVE. ACHIEVE. SUCCEED. Have a great first week of the term.

Stay well. Get vaccinated.
