LACC Hosts Armenian Independence Day Zoom Celebration

On Monday, September 21, 2020, LACC will host a special Zoom event to celebrate Armenian Independence Day.
The special celebration will beginat 1pm and will feature a reflection by Dr. Armen Baibourtian, H.E. Ambassador and Consul General of Armenia in Los Angeles, on Armenia’s role in Los Angeles and the global context.
Remarks will also be made by LACC President Dr. Mary Gallagher; Honorable Andra Hoffman, President, Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees; Honorable Adrin Nazarian, California State Assembly member District 46; Honorable U.S. Representative Judy Chu; and Dr. Ann Karagozian, distinguished UCLA professor and inaugural Director of the UCLA Promise Armenian Institute.
In addition to presentations by local representatives, music will be performed by Lilit Khovayan, one of the most recognized qanun players in the Armenian Diaspora, and Armen Stepanyan, a master of the Duduk. LACC students will recite a poem.
“We areproud to honor LACC’s Armenian community,” said President Gallagher. “It is important that we represent every part of our LACC family including our Armenian students, faculty, staff and neighbors.”
