French Student Spotlight: Unique S.

Elisabeth, Communications, French | Originally Published: 4/9/2018

The French Department wants to share stories from its students! We will spotlight student stories about why they took French, and what they hope to gain from the class.

Today's spotlight is on Unique S. She is a French 1 student here at LACC. Lets see what she said about why she took french:

"When I was really young I used to love wathching a cartoon called 'Pepe Le Pew" that always made me laugh. I would wonder if French speakers actually spoke like the main character (I now know that they don't). 5th grade was my first introduction to the laungage. My teacher was fluent and taught us well but as they say "what you don't use you lose". I never had anyone to speak French to or practice with so I forgot most of it not including the numbers. Then studied French again in high school with the same result. I am from Detroit, Michigan which was colonized by the French in the 1700's. There is a lot of French culture that still lingers in the city. Thoughout my lifetime I have been exposed to the laungage and culture many times. This drove me to take learning to speak French fluently seriously."

Thank you, Unique for sharing why you decided to take French! Good luck on your learning journey!
