News and Events for the week of October 28

Good Monday Morning:

Last Friday, we hosted students competing in the American Mathematical Association of Two Year Colleges (AMATYC) Math Contest. More than thirty students attended and took the Fall AMATYC exam. The Spring AMATYC test will be administered in March 2020.

Last night we held the inaugural event for the Nick Beck Investigative Journalism Lecture Series featuring a lecture by investigative journalist and Watergate Reporter Carl Bernstein. The Theater was filled with people who remember his work on Watergate in the early 70s, our journalism students, faculty, staff and LACC Foundation supporters. Mr. Bernstein spoke of the importance of maintaining a free press. He was interesting and engaging. He spoke for an hour, took questions from the audience, spoke with reporters and met with a group of about 50 people who were able to get up close and personal with this giant of journalism. It was a great evening. Thanks to the LACC Foundation for putting this wonderful event together.
