News and Events for the week of October 29

Good Monday Morning:

Now that mid-term exams are completed we are in the home stretch of this Fall semester. Please be sure to let Counseling know if any of your students are struggling and need some intervention. And please remind your students that they can now register for Winter classes. The Spring classes are online and enrollment begins soon.

Highlights from Last Week:
  • Base 11 Innovation Center – this was an amazing place at the airport in Compton. It was designed and built to develop interest in young students in science and engineering. Everything can be done remotely and then printed remotely. We hope to forge a partnership with Base 11 on a high school and the STEM Pathway grant we are currently working on.
  • Title IX Training for Classified Staff – we conducted Title IX training for classified staff last Friday to give them a thorough understanding of Title IX, responsibilities related to Title IX, and preparation for the online testing required of all employees.
  • Committee to Address Student Food and Housing Issues
The Academic Senate has put together a committee to begin to address issues of food and housing experienced by our students. Our kick-off meeting was last Friday afternoon. We will keep you posted.
